I have a quick and easy project to share. This is certainly not an original idea, I was inspired by the many pumpkin ideas that have been posted in blog land over the past few weeks. The best thing about this project is that I didn’t spend a dime. I had everything that I needed stored away in my craft closet.
I started by spray painting a faux pumpkin. I then used rub on scrapbook letters to spell out BOO.
I scratched my beautiful spray paint job and had to touch it up with white out. I discovered that trying to spray paint a Q-tip and then applying the paint to the pumpkin doesn’t work. The scratched area got bigger instead of smaller. White out to the rescue!
I tied some raffia and then a black and white checked ribbon to the stem. I used three sewing pins with black heads to hold the ribbon in place. The faux stem wasn’t long enough and the ribbon kept sliding off.
Done! Easy peasy and cute!
I have this displayed on my kitchen counter. It makes me smile every time I see it!

ReplyDeleteReally cute idea--I am not familiar with all of the scrapbook material...I need to do some browsing....but in my town all we have is a walmart and kmart for scrapbooking and I am not sure what they have?
ReplyDeleteADORABLE....What a clever idea...
ReplyDeleteI am CRAZY about your tile. We opted for formica....as I've said before our home is in a planned community and there were limited choices for counters (and everything else too)...granite is lovely, but I wanted all white tile, set on the diagonal with a big braided strip. They did offer tile, but no creativity involved, so we just took the standard and will do the tiling later...Yours couldn't be prettier.
Hugs,
Spencer
I have an old faded faux pumpkin that is just begging for this make-over. Thanks for the inspiration!
