Labor Day Weekend at the Beach

Mr. SP and I are enjoying a weekend at the beach. Yesterday was an ideal beach day. It was sunny and warm with blue skies and a little bit of a breeze. I walked down to the beach first thing in the morning to drink in the beauty.

We spent our morning over the bridge in Kilmarlic participating in a cardio tennis class. Ivo, the head pro, is such an awesome instructor. I would love to be able to participate in his clinics more often.

We tried a new to us place for lunch, The Rundown Cafe. It is on the beach road on Milepost 1 for all of you familiar with the OBX. It was wonderful and we'll definitely go back. Mr. SP had a Baja Fish Wrap and I had Sesame Noodles with Coconut Shrimp. As Rachael Ray would say, Yum-Oh!!

The Rundown Cafe has a beautiful pond in front full of huge Koi. Some of them were gigantic!

After lunch we hit the beach for a few hours. Both of us spent the majority of the time sleeping. There's nothing like a nap on the beach!

After the beach, we went for a bike ride. We rode along the sound and then into some neighborhoods. The OBX has an incredible bike trail system. We start and end our ride with a loop around the Wright Brother's Memorial.

Dinner was at one of our favorite restaurants, The Fisherman's Wharf in Wanchese. We had to wait a long time for a table, but it was worth the wait. We watched the sun set while we waited.

Look at the moon! What a perfect ending for a perfect day!

  5. The outer banks is such a blissful beach experience. Where did you stay? Or, did you just go for the day?
