When work was over, the birthday fun began when Mr. SP and I headed to the lake for the evening for a ride on our new boat. We tooled around for a few hours and then had a picnic dinner. It was a relaxing and most enjoyable evening.
After boating, it was cake and present time. Mr. SP spoiled me as usual. I got an ice bucket, a cute pig napkin holder (see below), and some new tennis clothes.
We hosted a birthday party on Friday night to celebrate with our friends. The party was supposed to be outside, but it poured rain from 3:30 on forcing us to have the party inside. I had to do some quick scrambling to come up with a place for 15 to dine. Adding a card table to the end of our dining table worked just fine. I planned on making a floral centerpiece but the rain put a stop to that, too. Do you like my pig pot? I’ve had it since I was a child.
I wanted pig cupcakes for dessert. Aren’t these adorable? We got a mix of chocolate and vanilla with assorted fillings. My favorite is vanilla with a salted caramel filling.
I planned to have the chalkboard next to the food table outside with a greeting. Since it was inside, I asked Mr. SP to draw a pig and write whatever he wanted. Ha!
We crammed a lot into the weekend. We played tennis twice, planted our garden, made another trip to the lake, and ran a 10K race. We are both pretty beat! The race had great door prizes and we both won. I’m actually the winner because I’ll be the one to use both prizes. We won a $25 gift certificate to the local running store and a certificate for a pedicure at a local spa. Running in 90 degree heat was worth it for those prizes!
Four days of school until the end. This week I go on two field trips and then am at school for two days. I love the end of the year when testing is over and the kids can finally relax and have fun.
Have a great week!
Happy birthday, Paula! And that bag of frogs...yikes! lol Love the pig cupcakes! Looks like a fun day! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Looks like you had a fun day.
ReplyDeleteI remember having to dissect a guinea pig in college, thought I would pass out. I'm not sure I would have done any better with a frog.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect pig pickin birthday party Paula. Enjoy your last week of the school year.
Happy Birthday, Paula! I don't think I could dissect a frog! Your celebration looks like a good time and your husband draws a good pig.
ReplyDeletePaula, your busy b-day weekend sounds perfect. Loving those cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your birthday, the end of school, a successful race, and your door prizes! Love the pig drawing! I bet Mr. SP could make you a neat pig cutting board!
