Spring has definitely sprung here in Virginia! The grass is green, the birds are singing, and many trees are in full bloom. The sweater wreath that I’ve had on my front door for the past month needed to be replaced with something more appropriate for the season.
I wanted to make a natural-looking wreath and came up with a moss covered grapevine wreath that features three nests that I’ve had for a long while. The ferns are faux and so is the little bird but everything else is from nature.
I need to get some flowers for my planters and then the front of my house will be all ready for glorious spring.
Isn't it interesting to see the materials used for each of the three nests? I especially find the smallest nest interesting because lichen is woven in along with the twigs. I would like to know what kind of bird made each nest. If you are wondering, I didn't find these nests myself. From time to time a student will bring in a nest that they've found to show to the class. After it has been on display, they usually don't want to take it home and they give it to me. I'm always happy to add another nest to my collection for decorating!

ReplyDeleteThose nests are awesome! I have one that was made out of hair from the tails and manes of horses on my uncles ranch. I'll have to take photos and do a post about it someday.
