Patriotic Bandana Wreath

I wanted to craft a unique wreath to use over my mantel for Flag Day and the 4th of July.  A wreath crafted from red, white, and blue bandanas is the centerpiece for my 2012 patriotic mantel.

I’m thrilled with this red, white, and blue patriotic wreath and it's easy to make, too.

Supplies:
Wreath form
Bandanas in red, white, and blue  (I ended up using two of each color.)
Heat n Bond iron-on adhesive
Batting
Glue gun
Iron
Bandana Wreath Supplies

How To:
1.  Cut a nine inch square from the corner of each bandana.

2.  Press each square to remove wrinkles.

3.  Apply Heat n Bond to the wrong side of each bandana square using an iron set on medium heat.  The paper should be against the ironing board.

4.  Peel the paper away, fold up one side and iron.  (I folded to the black line next to the small paisley pattern.)

5.  Fold down the other side and press.

6.  Bring the corner on the unfolded side to meet the corner on the folded sides.  Press in place.

7.  Each bandana triangle should be nice and crisp for wreath making.  These triangles are guaranteed not to wilt in the summer heat and humidity.

8.  Attach wire to the wreath form to make a hanger.  I wrapped my form in batting to make it easier to glue the bandanas down and also to make the wreath a bit bulkier.

9.  Use a glue gun to glue bandanas to the form.

10.  Hang your wreath and enjoy!

Bandanas say “It’s summer” to me and I just may leave this wreath up long after the 4th of July is over.

I’ll share my patriotic mantel soon.  I don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of red, white, and blue this time of year.

  1. Is there anything more cheerful and fun than bandana print? The patriotic theme is great, but you could do this in thematic colors for fall, Halloween, Christmas, spring and summer too. Cute Cute!

  2. Love the wreath - question: what size wreath form did you use and where did you buy the bandanas. Thanks
