My dining room table has sported the same centerpiece since the weekend after Easter, vintage blue Mason jars on a large silver tray. I loved the look but it was time for a change.
Last summer I crafted a simple ruffled runner using a drop cloth and fabric with a blue Hawaiian print. I made this runner to use on my kitchen table which is in the middle of construction debris, so I decided to use it on my dining table. The dining room table is round rather than the kitchen table's rectanglular shape making the runner hang over the edges of the table just slightly
The blue in the runner really makes the blue Czechoslovakian vases on the buffet pop. I inherited these from my mother-in-law who in turn inherited them from her mother-in-law.
A yard sale milk glass compote filled with gray shells makes a simple centerpiece. A neighbor moving into a retirement home left a box of shells on the street corner and I was lucky enough to be the first to find them.
I'm a little late getting decorated for summer but better late than never!

Definitely better late than never! Glad to see you haven't lost your decorating mojo even in the midst of the mess of construction. Congrats on finding the shells--it's fun to reclaim what would have been trash, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteI have some drop cloth left over from making your 4th of July table runner. Think I will give this one a try too! Thanks so much for all the creative inspiration :)
