Monday is Thrifty Treasures day over at Rhoda’s blog, Southern Hospitality. Be sure to visit Rhoda to see this week’s treasures.
I visited our local DAV a few weeks ago and found a few things that had to come home with me. I collect planters and found two to add to my collection. I never see these at Goodwill and was surprised to find them at DAV for an inexpensive price.
I love both the color and the pattern of this planter. It was only $2.00!
I don’t see orange in this type of planter very often and was so excited when I looked at the bottom and saw that it was only $1.00.
These candlesticks were $2.00 each.
I decided to paint them white for a summery look.
I feel like I really scored with my $7.00 total purchase.
I put my new planter on display in my kitchen. The shelves on the corners of my cabinets are small but perfect for displaying treasures like these.
I displayed some of my white planters on the opposite side of the room.
I am using another planter to hold my kitchen sponge.
A larger one is adorning my kitchen table right now. Soon I’ll gather some green Osage Orange balls to fill it.
Sometimes I group my planters to make a display.
I love collecting planters because the designs and colors are interesting and they are useful. They also are pretty cheap in antique stores and are something that can be found most everywhere.
Be sure to head over to Southern Hospitality to see everyone’s treasures for this week!

ReplyDeleteThanks! Kim
Paula, your collection is such fun! I don't remember you telling us about these before! I'm always on the lookout for them too, but instead of keeping and collecting, I use them for floral arranging. Maybe I should rethink this! :) I love how you have them displayed. Your collection is very impressive. I really like the new orange one.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by today. I have really been adding to my napkin and napkin rings supply partially due to blogging! It's so fun to have and use.

ReplyDeleteHi Paula, I love your planters and the way you have displayed them. Growing up in the '60's these were so popular and it seems every housewife had at least one in the kitchen. It brings back fond memories of Mama's kithen shelves.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh...I am loving your orange and yellow finds and am a bit jealous too. ;-)
ReplyDeletejust found your blog from Rhoda - i was wondering the planter with the four feet you have on the far left side of the last two pictures did it use to be reddish orangey brown and glass - if so I have the same one that I just received from my grandmother last weekend from her china cabinet.
ReplyDeleteYou have some gorgeous pieces! I love how you display them grouped together.

I love the planter-so pretty xoxo
ReplyDeleteThose planters also make great desk organizers. The square ones hold envelopes and note pads. The small ones are great for paper clips and binder clips. The flower pot ones make great pen & pencil holders.
ReplyDeleteI love the color palette you have put together - Lorrie
