OBX Dunes at Sunset

A couple of nights ago we went to the dunes to watch the sun go down.  It would be way too hot to be on the dunes during the day, but in the evening the sand is cool and the area is quite pleasant.

Isn't this beautiful?


Running up and down the dunes is loads of fun.  Reese and I had a ball doing this.  A few people slid down using their boogie board.  Going down is a lot more fun than going up!

If you visit the OBX,  the dunes in the evening is a fun and free activity.  I hadn't been on the dunes in a number of years and I'd forgotten how beautiful it is and how much fun it is to walk in the sand.

    Great pictures. Jockey's Ridge is arguably the best spot to watch an OBX sunset.

    This looks like loads of fun. We have some big dunes nearby in Indiana that we used to go to when we were younger. Wish I had seen a sunset like this!!

    I've been to Jockey's Ridge once on Senior Trip. Very cool! I think I was more interested in the boys, but I'd enjoy it more now. ;)

    Can't believe you've been there almost two weeks. You could be the next tour guide there! Enjoy your last few days there. It has been absolutely gorgeous the past two days in Virginia.

    i havent been to obx for yrs...i have such nice memories..never ran up the dunes but filmed all the surfer guys I was with doing it!

    my daughter and fam are in lynchburg for 2 weeks...teaching a debate camp....

    have a fab vacation...the pics are great!! so relaxing..

    that looks like a beautiful place!! We are headed out to the beaches of Maryland soon for vacation...your pictures are making me itch..lol..i will certainly have to make sure i sit on the beach for a sunset or two..
